How you print badges or labels in Certain depends on which version of the Badges Module is enabled in the event.
This topic describes the process in the Badges V2 module, which was introduced in Certain 4.8. This module added functionality such as multiple badge layouts per event, multiple barcodes per badge, and options of printing directly to a printer or via PDF.
(For the older Badges V1 module, see that separate help page. That module remains available for use instead of Badges V2 in an event, for backward compatibility, but provides much less flexibility.)
There are three steps involved in printing badges in Certain using Badges V2:
-
Enable the Badges V2 Module
-
Configure one or more Badge Layouts
-
Print or email the Attendees' Badges
(See the Badges Quick Guide for an illustrated PDF guide explaining the process in detail.)
Enabling the Module
To enable the Badges V2 module for an event, go to Plan > Configure > Options, select the Badges module, and then its Badges V2 sub-module.
Configuring the Badge Layout
To add a badge layout, go to Manage > Badges and Barcodes > Badges.
You can have multiple badge layouts per event. For example, you might use a different one for each attendee type.
A badge can include the following, all formatted and precisely placed:
-
your choice of data fields from the attendee's record, formatted as required
-
a logo or other image(s)
-
one or more barcodes (of different types)
-
formatted text
-
the attendee's profile picture
Printing (or emailing) Badges
Once you have saved a badge layout, you can:
-
Print multiple badges from a report, by
-
-
selecting a badge layout under Print Badges & Labels on the Report Results screen, and then
-
clicking PDF (to create a PDF file), or
-
clicking Print (to print directly to a printer, immediately).
-
-
Print an individual badge from a registration record, by
-
-
clicking the Print Name Badge button on the Registration > Overview page, and then
-
selecting a badge layout, and
-
clicking Generate PDF or
-
clicking Print (to print directly to a printer, immediately).
-
-
Attach a PDF of a badge to an email (e.g., in Promote > Communication > Email Templates) by
-
-
selecting Attach Badge PDF under Attachment.
-
Note: When a badge is printed, the attendee's Badge Printed status is set to Yes, and the Badge Print Date is recorded and can be used in a report as a data column or as an advanced filter.
Caution: Select 100% fit in your printer settings when printing badges. Scaling to "fit to size" (or similar) may misalign badges on stationery.
