The session catalog only shows sessions that pass its filters and settings. Start by finding your catalog, then work through these checks.
Find your catalog
- Open the event and go to Manage > Speakers and Sessions > Catalog List. If you're already in Speakers and Sessions, click Catalog List at the bottom of the left menu.
- The page shows how many session and speaker catalogs the event has. Click Go to Catalog List.
- Find your catalog in the list. Each one has a Publish or Re-Publish button and action icons: the cog opens the catalog's settings (Catalog Configuration) and the pencil opens the catalog designer.
The catalog says it's not ready, or closed
- "The catalog you are trying to access is not ready" means the catalog hasn't been published. Click Publish next to it in the Catalog List. A catalog that was published before shows Re-Publish instead.
- If you set an End Date, the catalog shows its closed message after that date. A new end date only applies after you publish again.
To check or change the end date and messages, open the catalog's settings:
- In the Catalog List, find the catalog and click its cog in the Actions column. (The Catalog List opens in its own browser tab.)
- Catalog Configuration opens on the right. Click the Publish Config tab.
- Edit the Unpublished Message (shown before the catalog is published), the End Date and the Catalog Closed Message (shown after the end date).
- Click Save, then Re-Publish the catalog in the list.
Your changes don't show
Click Re-Publish in the Catalog List after you make changes.
No sessions show at all
-
Check the session status. Only sessions with a Published status can show. Go to Manage > Speakers and Sessions > Sessions and look at the Session Status column, or open a session: its status shows next to the name and on the Session Status button at the top. While you're there, check the session's Tags if the catalog filters by tag (see the next check).
-
Check the catalog's filters. In the Catalog List, click the catalog's pencil. The Session Catalog Designer opens in a new tab. Go to Data, then the General tab, and look at Default Filters. Only sessions that match every filter show. Public and Logged in view filters (Session Track, Session Type, Session Tag) apply to everyone: if Session Tag is set to Show on Webpage, a session without that tag won't show. Public view filters (Session Status, Attendee Type) only apply to people who aren't logged in. Hide full sessions and Hide past sessions also remove sessions. After a change, click Save, then Re-Publish the catalog. See Controlling which sessions display on the session catalog
- Check for broken HTML in a session. If the list starts to load and then goes blank with no message, one session may have broken HTML in a custom field. Search for sessions one at a time. The one that won't show is likely the cause. Fix the HTML in that session's field.
Some sessions are missing
- The missing sessions may not match a filter, or may not be published. Check the status and filters above.
-
Check Show Assigned sessions only. Click the catalog's cog to open Catalog Configuration, then the Change Name tab. If Show Assigned sessions only is on, each person only sees the sessions assigned to them, and they have to log in to see any. Turn it off if the catalog should show every session, then save and Re-Publish.
- Highlighted and Promoted lists only offer published sessions. Add them with Add more session(s).
People are asked to log in, or it looks different logged out
-
Let anyone with the link view the catalog. Click the catalog's cog to open Catalog Configuration, then the Change Name tab. The switch is named Disable Public View. When it's off, the text next to it reads Public view enabled, and people can see the catalog without logging in. If it's on, they have to log in. Save, then Re-Publish.
- Remember the public view filters. People who aren't logged in only see sessions that also match the Public view filters (see Default Filters above), so the catalog can show fewer sessions when logged out.
- Skip the login screen. Click the pencil to edit the catalog, go to Design Elements > Log In Screen and switch off Log In Screen (it shows Enabled when it's on). Click Save, then Publish.
- Test both logged in and logged out. Some features work differently for each.
Layout changes
You can change the theme and styles in the catalog designer. See Session Catalog Designer Changes beyond those settings, such as a filter that stays on screen while scrolling, need custom code. Contact Certain Professional Services.
Next step: Check the session status and the catalog's Default Filters first.
