Web Page 1 (Event Website) - Login
Note: If you set a custom Page Title for Web Page 1 on the Websites Setup" href="https://community.certain.com/pagehelp/web/setup.htm" style="display: inline; font-family: Lato, Verdana, Arial, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; color: rgb(22, 7, 255); text-decoration: underline;"Website Setup page, that's what you (on the admin side) see in the Left Navigation Panel instead of "Web 1".
Use this page to customize the event website's Login page, which you use to restrict access to the website.
Note: you must select the Login Required? check box on the (Website) Setup" style="display: inline; font-family: Lato, Verdana, Arial, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; color: rgb(22, 7, 255); text-decoration: underline;"Setup page for this page to be displayed on the website.
You can choose to restrict access to the website by using either Username and Password combinations, or single Passcodes.
If you use the Username and Password method, you can also choose to Restrict Entry By Registration Status.
Page Setup
-
Header Text – The name of the page, which the viewer sees displayed in a contrast-color header bar at the top of the webpage.
If this field is left blank, then the header bar is not displayed.
Default: "Login"
Note: This is unrelated to the Page Title you may have entered for Web Page 1 on the Websites Setup" style="display: inline; font-family: Lato, Verdana, Arial, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; color: rgb(22, 7, 255); text-decoration: underline;"Website Setup Page; that's for the planner's benefit only.
-
Content –
Enter and format the page content in the HTML Editor.
To include an event detail (such as the Event Name or Start Date), select a field from the Append Data Fields list and click Add to Page HTML.
You can clear the Enable Editor? check box to enter plain text, which can still include HTML tags, and you can still append dynamic data fields.
Note: If the Enable CKeditor check box on Account Settings > Implementation > Security is cleared for the account, then there is no option to enable the editor; only the plain text box is shown.
-
Label for Submit Button – The text on the button (at the bottom of the page) which the viewer clicks to log in.
Username and Password
The highest level of security is offered by using the Username and Password fields. Each registrant must be pre-assigned a unique username (or Personal Identification Number) and a password prior to invitation. Alternatively, registrants may be asked to select a username and password the first time they register. A username is attached to the registrant's profile record, so that it can be re-used from event to event.
To require usernames and passwords:
-
Select the Collect Username and Password? check box.
-
Select the profile data field that you want to compare to the entered username from the "Username" field list. Enter the label you want to display on the form in the Display field.
-
Select the profile data field that you want to compare to the entered password from the "Password" field list. Enter the label you want to display on the form in the Display field. The password field may be displayed as a hidden text field by selecting Hide text?
If the person using the webpage provides a username and password combination thart does not match any record in the account's Profiles database, then the text in Login fails is displayed.
Passcodes
Alternatively, a single text box may be placed on the entry page to request a passcode from online registrants. To require a passcode:
-
Select the Collect Passcode? check box to restrict access to the website to only those individuals who know this code.
The Instructions will be displayed above the passcode field.
The Display field is the label for the field in which registrants type the passcode. -
Select Hide Text? to collect the passcode as a hidden text field, keeping it safe from prying eyes.
The Passcode omitted message is displayed if the viewer tries to enter the website without providing a passcode.
If the viewer enters a passcode that doesn't match any of the types it is being compared to, then the message in Passcode fails is displayed.
Restrict Entry by Registration Status
If you use the username/password method to restrict access to the website, then you can restrict access further: to specific registration statuses.
For example, a website designed for accepted applicants only could be restricted to allow logins by registrations with an "Invited" status, not allowing access by registrants with a "Denied" status.
If no statuses (or all statuses) are selected, then registrations will not be restricted based upon their registration status.
If the registrant enters a valid username/password combination, but is not in one of the allowed registration statuses, then the form displays the error message in the field If reg status is not allowed.
Note: The list of statuses available for selection includes:
-
Custom statuses added on Plan > Configure > Custom Statuses.
-
The 11 default registration statuses (New, Requested Invitation, Waitlist Hold, Invited, Request Denied, Invitation Sent, Pre-Registered, Declined Invitation, Cancelled, No-show, Attended) unless the account has the Show Default Statuses option cleared on Account Settings > Implementation > Security; in which case none of those would be available. (However, it is very rare for an account administrator to clear that option.)
