Overview
The Badge Setup page is where you connect badge templates to attendee types before an event. It's also where you fine-tune how each template prints for different audiences and confirm that every attendee type has a badge assigned before you go live.
This guide covers navigating the Badge Setup page, creating and customizing assignments, using multiple templates in one event, and verifying full coverage before event day.
The Badge Setup Page
Open the event from the Account Dashboard, then click Badges in the left sidebar.
The page has three areas:
- Badge Assignments (left): where you create and manage assignments between templates and attendee types
- Badge Assignments at a Glance (right): a quick-reference list of every attendee type and which template it's tied to, or Not assigned if none
- Printer Settings (below Badge Assignments): a reminder that printer selection happens per device at check-in, not on this page
Before you start: Badge templates must exist in your account before you can assign them here. If the template you need isn't in the dropdown, go to Administration > Badge Templates and create it first.
Creating an Assignment
Click Add in the top-right corner of the Badge Assignments section. If no assignments exist yet, you'll also see an Add Badge Assignment link in the center of the empty section. Both open the same modal.
- Click the Badge Template dropdown and select a template. A preview of the badge layout appears on the right side of the modal so you can confirm you've picked the right one.
- In the Attendee Types checklist, check every attendee type that should print on this template. Click Select All in the top-right of the checklist if the same template applies to everyone.
- Click Add Assignment to save.
The modal closes, the assignment appears as a card, and each selected attendee type updates from Not assigned to the template name in the at-a-Glance panel.
Customizing an Assignment
Each assignment card shows a mini preview of the template along with three controls you can adjust without reopening the modal:
Attendee Types chips. The attendee types tied to this assignment appear as chips. Click × on a chip to remove a type from the assignment, or click the + dropdown to add more.
Font Override. Use this to change the font for this specific assignment without touching the template itself. Leave it on Default (Inter) to use the template's font, or select another from the list.
Customize Fields. Opens a panel where you can override the field layout for this assignment only. Changes here don't affect the underlying template.
All changes on the card save automatically.
Using Multiple Templates in One Event
If different attendee types need different badge designs, click Add again and create a second assignment with a different template.
One rule to keep in mind: each attendee type can only be tied to one template at a time. To move an attendee type to a different template, remove it from its current assignment first, then add it to the new one.
Verifying Coverage
Use the Badge Assignments at a Glance panel as your final check before the event. Any attendee type still marked Not assigned won't have a badge to print, meaning those attendees will check in without one.
Printer Settings
Below the Badge Assignments section, you'll see a Printers are configured per-device note. Printer selection doesn't happen on this page. Staff choose a printer at check-in time from whichever device they're using, and each device remembers its selection for that event.
A Few Things to Know
An attendee type is missing from the list? Attendee types only appear if they're present in your synced registration data. Check that records of that type have a completed registration status in Certain, then trigger a manual sync to pull the latest data into Greet.
Template not showing in the dropdown? Go to Administration > Badge Templates and confirm the template exists. If it was just created, refresh the page and try again.
