Overview
The Giveaways feature in Greet runs prize drawings tied directly to event check-in. Attendees are auto-entered when they scan in, and your team handles the full lifecycle — creating the drawing, adding prizes, pulling winners, and closing it out — from a single panel. This article walks through each stage in order.
Navigate to Giveaways
- In the left sidebar, click Dashboard & Events and select the event you want to configure.
- From the event's Overview page, click Giveaways in the left sidebar to open the Giveaways & Prizes section.
Create a Giveaway
- Click Create Giveaway in the top-right corner. The Create Giveaway modal opens with the following fields:
- Name (required): a descriptive name that appears in the giveaway list and any reporting.
- Description (optional): short context for your team about what the drawing is for.
- Max Entries Per Attendee: defaults to 1. Increase this if attendees can earn multiple entries.
- Eligible Attendee Types: leave all unchecked to allow every attendee type to enter, or check specific types to restrict eligibility.
- Click Create to save. The giveaway appears in the list with a draft status chip.
Review the Draft Panel
- Click the new giveaway in the list to open its detail panel on the right. In draft, you'll see:
- The giveaway name and description (if set) with the draft chip and an Open for Entries button in the header.
- A Prizes section with an Add Prize button and a placeholder until the first prize is added.
- A red Delete Giveaway button at the bottom of the panel.
Note: Delete is only available in draft. Once you click Open for Entries, the giveaway can't be deleted.
Add Prizes
- Click Add Prize. The Add Prize modal includes:
- Prize Name (required)
- Description (optional): extra context about the prize.
- Quantity: defaults to 1. Increase for multiple units of the same prize.
- Value (optional): estimated prize value for reporting.
- Sponsor (optional): sponsor name, if applicable.
- Click Add Prize to save. The prize appears in the Prizes section with its name and inventory count. A trash icon next to each prize lets you remove it while the giveaway is still in draft.
Note: A giveaway needs at least one prize before it can be opened for entries. You can add more prizes after the giveaway is open.
Open for Entries
- When your prize list is ready, click Open for Entries in the panel header. The status chip flips from draft to open.
From this point forward, every attendee who checks in and meets the eligibility criteria is auto-entered. The Entries tile in the panel updates in real time as check-ins flow through Greet.
Draw Winners
- When you're ready to run the drawing, click Draw Winners in the panel header. Greet randomly selects one winner per prize unit from the entry pool.
- After the draw, the status chip changes to drawn and the panel updates:
- Draw Winners is replaced by a Close Giveaway button.
- A Winners section appears below Prizes, showing each winner's name, prize, and email with a pending status badge.
- Each prize card updates to show the awarded quantity.
Manage Winners
- For each winner row, your team has two actions:
- Click Claimed when the winner picks up their prize. The status badge updates to reflect this.
- Click Forfeit if the winner doesn't claim within your event's deadline. The prize is freed up for a redraw or reassignment.
Close the Giveaway
- Once every winner is marked Claimed or Forfeit, click Close Giveaway in the panel header. The status chip moves to closed and the panel becomes read-only. The giveaway stays in the list as a permanent record, and the final numbers flow into your event reports.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Status chips control what's editable. Draft is the only state where you can delete the giveaway or remove prizes. Open and drawn are active working states. Closed is read-only.
- Auto-entry is tied to check-in. Attendees who never scan in won't be in the entry pool, regardless of their registration status.
