Every event needs one form set as its primary form. Certain uses it behind the scenes for emails, reports and links, so if no form is primary, things break.
What goes wrong without a primary form
- Emails with display rules fail. Display rules in emails read from the primary form. With no primary form, the email gives a server error when it sends.
- Additional registration forms error out. Guest and additional registration forms can show server errors.
- Other features have nothing to point to. The Add to Calendar dynamic field in emails and Personal Agenda sections uses the primary form's Confirmation page settings. Reports use it for Primary Form Name and Primary Form URL. The Event List uses it to preview the event, and external sites like online calendars link to it.
Getting server errors?: If emails or forms in one event start giving server errors, check that the event has an active primary form before anything else.
Check which form is primary
Go to Plan > Forms. The primary form has (Primary) after its name in the Forms List.
Inactive forms can still be primary: Deleting or inactivating a form doesn't remove its primary setting. Click Show Inactive at the top right of the Forms List. If the primary form is inactive, make an active form the primary instead.
Set the primary form
- Go to Plan > Forms and click the pencil icon to edit the form.
- On the Setup page, find the Settings list and check This is the primary form for the event.
- Click Save.
If your event has only one form, it's the primary form automatically. The box is checked and greyed out, so you can't clear it.
To make a different form the primary, check the box on that form. Certain clears it on the old one for you, so there's only ever one.
FAQ
Can an event have two primary forms?
No. Only one form per event can be primary. Checking the box on a new form clears it on the old one.
Which form should be primary?
Usually your main registration form, the one most registrants use and the one your emails and links are built around.
Next step: Open Plan > Forms and check that one active form shows (Primary).
