A registration status can be set in a few places. When a status stays "New" or changes at the wrong time, find which one is setting it.
Where a status can be set
- The form's Setup page. Under Reg status, a form can set a status when someone starts the form (Upon entry into this form, set status to) and when they reach the confirmation page (Upon completion of this form, set status to). Both apply to every registration on the order, including guests. (Do not change) leaves the status alone.
- A logic rule on the form, with the Assign Reg Status action.
- The attendee type's default status. A status set on the form's Setup page overrides it.
- Inline Addl Regs. Under Default Reg Status and Cancel Options, Registration status sets the status for every inline guest, and Cancel Registration status sets the status when a guest is cancelled.
- Check-in. Registration Status after Check In under Engage > Check-In > Basic.
Why a status didn't change, or changed too early
1. The rule points at a status that was deleted
If a custom status used in a registration status logic rule was deleted, the rule has nothing to set. Restore the status, or edit the rule to use another one. See Registration Status Logic Rules
2. The rule is on the wrong page
Logic runs when its page is submitted. A rule on the same page as Registrant Details can fire as soon as someone fills in that page, even if they never finish. Put status rules on a page near the end of the form, such as Verify. The rule's Section picks which logic section it belongs to; place that logic section in the page order where you want the rule to run.
3. Guests use their own form sequence
Additional registrants follow the Addl Regs form sequence, not the primary's. A status rule on the primary form doesn't run for guests. Add the rule to the additional registration sequence too. See How do guest and additional registration forms work?
4. The condition doesn't match
Check the attendee type or answer the rule looks for. Test with a registration that matches.
5. The form's Setup page sets a status too
If the status changes the moment someone opens the form, or when they finish it, check Reg status on the form's Setup page. An entry or completion status there applies to everyone on the order. Set it to (Do not change) if a logic rule should decide the status instead. A completion status replaces a status that a logic rule set earlier in the form.
Emails on status change: Some statuses send an email when they're set. To stop that, see How to Disable Automatic Emails when changing attendee custom status
Next step: Check the form's Reg status on Setup, then open the logic rule and check the status it sets and which page it's on.
