The Event Code is entered at Plan > Event Setup > Details > Event Details. The code assigned to Events is essential for internal tracking for most clients. But is it okay to change the Event Code after the Event is built? The code can be changed once the event is live, but we recommend against doing so.
Changing The Event Code
The Event Code creates a file path where files uploaded to the event are stored. This includes files uploaded for the Event setup, like banner images you use in your Forms, and files uploaded by individual registrants to Event level Reg questions. Changing the Event Code would cause the file path that the system looks for these uploaded files to change, generating an error when you attempt to access them. This can cause broken images to display on your Forms and removes the ability of users to download/view files from the event that were uploaded by registrants.
More importantly, the Event Code is used in setting up the integration between Certain Platform and Touchpoint. Changing the Event Code will break the integration between Certain Platform and Touchpoint, causing your data to stop syncing.
If the Event Code is changed accidentally, you can remedy the situation by:
- Changing the Event Code back to its original value
- If the new Event Code must be used, you can re-upload your files in Plan > Configure > Display > Assets, then edit any Custom HTML, so it uses the new Relative Path from that same page.
- Note: If your Event is integrated with Touchpoint, you must submit a Support ticket to have the Touchpoint integration set up again from scratch using your new Event Code. Please be mindful that this process may take a little while to accomplish, so our best practice recommendation is to avoid changing the Event Code in Certain Platform after a Touchpoint integration has been set up.
