Certain doesn't have a setting that turns off card payments on a date, and form logic can't hide a payment method. You turn the payment method off on the form when you're ready.
Turn off card payments
- On the cutoff date, open the form and go to Payment.
- Under Online Payment Processing, clear Process payments online for this form, then Save. Registrants no longer see Pay via Credit Card on the payment page. They see their balance due and can continue without paying.
- If your form uses a processor other than Stripe, check Available Payment Methods and make sure another method, such as P.O. (invoice) or Check, is still selected if people can still register. Stripe forms don't list these methods on this page.
- Test the form: register a test attendee and check the payment page. See Payment Options (Registration Form)
Using Stripe?: When Stripe processes your payments, the form doesn't list card types. Which card and wallet types show is set in your Stripe account.
Set a reminder for the date, and do this on every form that takes payments.
Tell registrants
Change the payment instructions on the form so people know how to pay after the cutoff, for example by check or invoice.
If the price changes on the same date
You don't need to change prices by hand. Fees for attendee types, agenda items and sessions can have up to five price tiers, each with its own end date. When one tier's date passes, the next tier's price takes over on its own. This is how early bird pricing works.
- Open the fee: the attendee type (Event Setup > Attendee Types), the agenda item (Event Setup > Agenda > Fees & Discounts), or the session (Speakers and Sessions > Sessions, edit the session, Session Fees). If a session has no Session Fees area, the Fee field isn't on your session layout.
- In the fee schedule, set the first row's Expiration Date and Time to the last moment that price applies, for example the day before your cutoff.
- Click Add another Fee Schedule and add the next price with its own expiration date, a unique Fee Code and a label registrants will see.
- Save. Registrants see whichever price is current when they register.
Set the payment cutoff and the price change for the same date so both happen together. See Fees - Expiration and changing amounts
If registration closes on that date
You don't need to turn off payments separately. See How to Close Registration for an Event
Can I collect a card as a guarantee without charging it?
Only for hotel bookings, and the event needs an accommodation block. In the form's Accommodations settings, under Accommodations Payment Options, set Collect payment guarantee information to Optional or Require. The card holds the room and isn't charged through Certain. The regular Payment page doesn't have this option. See Accommodations (Attendee Form)
Next step: Add a reminder for the cutoff date, then clear the card option on the form.
